Showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, the SR 150 will be the least expensive Aprilia in the country. It goes on sale next month (August 2016) and will be manufactured at Piaggio’s manufacturing facility in Maharashtra.
What is it?
According to the company, the Aprilia SR 150 will offer the ‘feel of a sports bike with the ease of a scooter’. Specifications of the Auto Expo exhibit included a carburettor-fed, 11.5PS and 11.5Nm producing 154.4 cc, four stroke engine. The 14-inch, multi-spoke wheels — which are said to replicate the design of those found on Aprilia race bikes — were shod with 120/70 tubeless tyres. For braking duties, a disc brake up front and a drum at the rear were present on the show bike. But the company is yet to announce the final specs and city-wise pricing.
Where will it be positioned?
At an introductory price of Rs 65,000, the Italian designed and engineered Aprilia SR 150 will be positioned keeping the urban youngsters in mind. In comparison the 150 cc Vespas are dearer by about Rs 20,000.
When and where can you buy it?
Bookings for the same will begin shortly, and the scooter will be available from next month onwards.
