Taxi aggregator Ola has launched a zero-emissions taxi service in the city of Nagpur, Maharashtra. Using the four-door Mahindra e2o Plus, the service is called Ola Electric, and is in line with the government’s vision of going 100 per cent electric by 2030.
Thankfully, the initiative also involves setting up charging infrastructure, along with a range of electric vehicles. Partners for the same include Tata, Kinetic, BYD, TVS, and of course, Mahindra. The latter is said to have been responsible for 100 units of the EVs inducted by Ola.
A quick look at the Ola app in Nagpur suggests that both Mahindra e2o Plus and the eVerito are available for the service. Base fare is set to be Rs 40, while every ride will cost you Rs 8 per km, and Rs 1 per minute of travel.
Ola mentions on its blog that its charging stations allow various e-vehicles to be charged under one roof. The project was inaugurated by Minister of Road Transport, Nitin Gadkari, and Maharashtra’s Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis.
