Built by Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations, the Range Rover SV Coupe is a limited edition, two-door version of the full-size Range Rover SUV. Think of it as the original Range Rover (Classic) but in a highly luxurious trim, ready to take on the needs and demands of the buyer in 2018.
Only 999 examples will be made, available globally, and priced at £240,000 in the UK. Sales are expected to begin in the fourth quarter, and with a variety of optional extras, the price will only travel northwards. But that shouldn’t be a problem, because uniqueness will be one of the key features of the vehicle.
The buyers will get to choose from eight single body colours, Liquesence finish, and four exclusive dual-tone schemes. There’s another 16 SV Premium colours, too. And that’s not the end, with SVO’s bespoke personalisation offering the ability to make the SV Coupe more unique. The same can be said about the interior scheme.
The four-seater coupe offers what Land Rover calls world-class comfort, 20-way electrically adjustable front seats, 10-way adjustable rear ones, a 23-speaker Meridian sound system, and a dual 10-inch screen setup.
Sat at 8 mm lower than the standard Range Rover, the SV Coupe is bound to offer better dynamics. The vehicle automatically lowers itself by 15 mm when driven at 65 mph or above to further aid the stability. The wheel size ranges from 21 inch to 23 inch, and should there be a need to take the SV Coupe off the road, the variable air suspension will be more than happy to oblige.
Which is where the SUV coupe’s permanent four-wheel drive will prove to be useful. The Terrain Response System offers a number of off-road modes, and the SV Coupe comes with an Active Locking Rear Diff. The on-road performance shouldn’t be a problem, either, with the 5-litre supercharged V8 petrol engine (558 bhp, 71.42 kgm) helping the vehicle achieve a 0-96 kph time of 5 seconds and a top speed of 265.5 kph.
