MG Motor India has announced that it will launch its first car for the Indian market in the second quarter of 2019, followed by the launch a car each year. The SAIC-owned carmaker has formally invited prospective dealer partners to its road show in Delhi (April 6), Mumbai (March 28), and Bengaluru (April 16).
The ex-GM manufacturing facility in Halol, now under the MG brand, was inaugurated in September last year. It has been upgraded with the tooling and a new press shop, too. The company is also in talks with various component supplier, and maintains that all of this is taking place at a fast pace.
MG India’s President and Managing Director, Rajeev Chaba said, “The MG brand seeks to embrace the incredible technology of the future while cherishing its great British heritage. We are moving forward swiftly on our India strategy and building a strong organisation to embrace the future. Our aim is to provide vehicles that will be new age and very contemporary, with a premium image and great value.”
