The second-generation Honda Amaze, first showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo in Delhi, has been launched. That not just makes India the first country to have the new product on sale, it also means the compact saloon buyers benefit from segment-first offerings like diesel CVT. The introductory pricing is nothing but competitive: at Rs 5.6 lakh onwards.

Apart from the all-new design and more-spacious-than-before interior, the Amaze is also endowed with a larger 420-litre boot. It also comes with paddle shifters (segment-first feature; only available on petrol CVT), among other things. But where Honda seems to have surpassed its rivals is with the introduction of a CVT-equipped diesel engine. That’s certainly more advanced than say the Dzire’s AMT and as far as Honda’s claimed fuel economy goes, it doesn’t lag behind in the efficiency department, either.
The engines are carried over from the previous Amaze (1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel). As you must have read in Raunak’s first impressions of the car, the diesel CVT comes with lower power and torque figures. Honda claims to have used a new engine block, engine head cover, and even engine mounts to control noise and vibrations.
The steering system is also new, while safety has been uprated, too. Dual airbags and ABS (with EBD) is standard across all variants. Going beyond the basics, the Amaze also comes with ISOFIX child seat mounts, pedestrian injury mitigation tech, etc. There are four trim levels for the manual variants, namely E, S, V, and VX. The automatic variant is available only in the S and V grades. Regardless of the engine, gearbox, or trim, there are five colours to choose from including a new shade of red.
There’s a 3-year/unlimited-mileage standard warranty available on the new Honda Amaze; it can be further extended by two years. Variant-wise, ex-showroom prices are mentioned below:
