Jaguar India includes the 2-litre-engined version of the F-Type in the Indian line up, in both convertible and coupe form. It’s priced at Rs 101.45 lakh for the former and Rs 90.93 lakh for the coupe.
Its rather new 2-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine is the more sensible alternative as either the top-spec, performance-focussed offering (like in case of the XE S; not available in India) or the entry-level one, like the F-Type here. It helps the F-Type be lighter by 52 kilos, which in turn helps in the car’s handling, apart from reducing the emissions and fuel consumption.
The performance, you’d be glad to hear, remains top class: a claimed 0-100 kph time of 5.7 seconds is complemented by a top speed of 250 kph. This 296 bhp Ingenium engine comes with an active exhaust, unlike the better-specced models which get a switchable unit. But Jaguar mentions that both intake and exhaust have been ‘meticulously tuned to deliver renowned F-Type sound’.
JLR India’s President and Managing Director, Rohit Suri said, “We are very excited about the introduction of the 2.0 l engine on the F-TYPE. This will make our sportscar brand more accessible to Jaguar fans and customers across the spectrum. Enthusiasts are sure to be thrilled by the appeal of this pure breed F-TYPE with its own unique driving character.”
