Nissan’s first new SUV for the Indian market since 2013, the new Nissan Kicks, will be launched in January 2019. And the company has started bookings for the vehicle from today, December 14, onwards against a booking amount of Rs 25,000. The pre-launch booking can be made either at Nissan’s dealerships across the country, or on the company’s website: www.nissan.in
To recapitulate, the Nissan Kicks is based on the same platform as the Renault Duster in India. Which means that it’s larger than the Nissan Kicks sold globally. It also means through localisation, the costs will be kept in check. Of course, having said that, we’ll get to know more about prices closer to the launch.
Like the Duster and Captur, the Nissan Kicks will also come with a choice of two 1.5-litre engines. While the petrol unit will come with a 5-speed manual transmission, the diesel’s standard fitment will be a 6-speed unit. The vehicle is front-wheel drive and manual gearbox-equipped only, for the moment.
But it doesn’t skimp on features. From 17-inch wheels, LED projector headlamps, to leather-wrapped dashboard, there’s a lot going in favour of the Kicks already. There’s also automatic climate control standard across the range, and best-in-class space, claims the company. It also gets Vehicle Dynamics Control, Cruise Control, Hill-Start assist, and even standard ABS with EBD and brake assistance.
What sets the Kicks apart from other compact SUVs, apart from the smart styling and premium interior, is the inclusion of a 360-degree Around View Mirror, which essentially takes video from multiple cameras on the car and projects a 360-degree view on the 8-inch infotainment screen, hence making parking in tight spaces extremely easy.
