Volkswagen India aims at owning VW products in India a less expensive affair. The company has rejigged its service portfolio. Reduction in overall service costs is complemented by a widened/extended RSA and warranty schemes for new customers.
Effective from January 1, all new cars purchased from VW will come with a standard warranty of 4 years/100,000 km. In addition to that a 4-year roadside assistance is also included in the standard package. And to top it all 3 free services can be availed in the first year or up to 15,000 km. The latter effectively brings down the service cost by 24 to 44 per cent, claims the company.
This is in line with the brand’s continued efforts in highlighting VW’s VFM aspect. The company has also worked on making spare parts less expensive and easily available, and that a standard rate is followed across all dealerships for spares and labour. There are offers on warranty, which can now be extended to 7 years or 125,000 km, whichever is earlier.
Director for VW Passenger Cars, Steffen Knapp said, “Volkswagen is determined towards providing the best of our offerings to the value driven Indian customers. The brand has been taking conscious efforts towards addressing its key requirement of the customer – high maintenance costs. By adopting an India centric approach, there’s been an overall reduction in the total cost of ownership while retaining the same quality, safety and value-for-money proposition that is expected of a Volkswagen. Thus, it gives me immense pride in announcing an affordable ownership experience for the aspirational Indian customer.”
