The Hyundai Venue, the Korean carmaker’s offering in the sub-compact-SUV segment, has been unveiled in India, alongside its scheduled global preview at the 2019 New York International Auto Show. When launched, it will sit below the Hyundai Creta in the company’s SUV line up, but it’s far from a mini version of the Creta. In fact it brings along many firsts both for the brand as well as the segment.
To start it, Hyundai is banking heavily on it being a connected SUV — with the introduction of the Blue Link connectivity solution. Which means that it gets a total of 33 connected features, out of which 10 are specific to the Indian market.
You can find more about the features in our earlier report by clicking here.
Made with 69 per cent Advanced High Strength Steel and High Strength Steel, the Venue is based on a front-wheel-drive monocoque platform. It measures 3995 mm in length, 1770 mm in width, and 1590 mm in height.
Engine choices include a 1.4-litre diesel (89 bhp, 22.4 kgm), a 1.2-litre NA petrol (82 bhp, 11.7 kgm), and a 1-litre turbocharged petrol engine (118 bhp, 17.5 kgm). With the latter, Hyundai introduces its 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. It can also be specified with a manual unit, much like the NA petrol (5-speed manual) and the diesel (6-speed manual).
Apart from the extensive list of connected features, the Venue also offers up to 6 airbags, Hill Assist Control, ISOFIX, electric sunroof, cruise control, wireless charging, voice recognition, rear AC vents, cornering lamps, cooled glovebox, projector headlamps, LED DRLs, etc. In addition, the company will also offer three years of Blue Link service for free, 3-year/unlimited-mileage warranty, and 3-year roadside assistance.
