Jeep just showed off a Wrangler Rubicon 392 ‘Concept’ powered by a 6.4-litre Hemi V8, which is capable of producing 444 bhp and 62.20 kg-m of torque paired to an 8-speed auto gearbox. For something with the aerodynamic properties of a box, it makes the sprint to 100 kph in less than 5 seconds. Now, it’s no 707 bhp Wrangler Trailcat, but we’re always happy when companies shoehorn V8 engines where they don’t belong.
The concept also has some extra-large 37-inch mud-terrain tyres, Dana 44 axles with electric axle lockers front and back, a 2-inch lift kit and a modified frame just to fit the huge Hemi V8. You know, the usual concept car modifications.
When it releases in the American market at the end of the year, it’ll go up against the newly launched Ford Bronco. Now that’s a fight we’d love to watch from the front row!
