We’re always fans of special edition Minis and the new Sidewalk edition is no different. What’s special about the Sidewalk Edition? For starters, it’s only available as a convertible. Second, its Deep Laguna metallic paint has to be one of our favourite in recent times. Additionally, it gets a set of unique 17-inch dual-tone alloys, pinstripes on its bonnet, aluminium brushed door sills and, of course, a few Sidewalk badges. On the fabric top of this drop-top is a checkered flag motif. It does look cool, but we doubt you’ll keep the top up long enough to notice it.
Inside, you’ll find the seats wrapped in Anthracite with braided piping done up in Dark Petrol colour with Energetic Yellow used on the accent seams. Its steering wheel is also wrapped in leather and now sports a small ‘Sidewalk’ badge on it as well. In addition to that, you’ll see most of the inside covered in that Dark Petrol shade, which is exclusive to the Sidewalk Edition. We must admit, it goes well with the exterior colour.
Powering the Mini Convertible Sidewalk Edition is a 2.0-litre, twin-turbo petrol engine which is capable of delivering 189 bhp and 28.55 kgm of torque to the front wheels through a 7-speed DCT. That translates to a 0-100 kph sprint time of 7.1 seconds and a top speed of 230 kph.
The Sidewalk Edition will set you back by Rs 44.90 lakh, ex-showroom, India. At that price, we’d be hard-pressed to choose between this drop-top special edition or the pocket-rocket JCW!
