Let’s make one thing clear; both cars mentioned in this story haven’t been launched yet. As per our communication with Land Rover, the car maker has only listed prices of the Range Rover Sport SV and PHEV for its dealers; an official launch announcement is coming soon. The Range Rover Sport SV will be available from Rs 2.80 crore (ex-showroom) onwards, while the Range Rover Sport PHEV will come in with prices starting from Rs 2.10 crore (ex-showroom) onwards.
The Sport SV comes in as the flagship Range Rover Sport, and it comes with a 4.4-litre V8 powertrain sourced from BMW, with 626 bhp and 76.4 kgm of torque going to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. Being a super SUV, the RR Sport SV reaches triple digits in just 3.8 seconds, maxing out at 290 kmph. The Range Rover Sport PHEV gets a slightly reworked front fascia compared to the other RR Sport trims.
Meanwhile the Range Rover Sport PHEV carries a 3-litre six-cylinder powertrain under its hood, along with an electric motor, producing a combined output of 453 bhp and 67.3 kgm of torque. Land Rover says that the plug-in hybrid setup can be fully charged in five hours using a 7 kW AC home charger, and it gets a claimed electric-only range of 123 km.
The Range Rover Sport PHEV stays identical to the standard Range Rover in terms of design, while equipment-wise, it gets 22-step ventilated and heated front seats with massage function and comfort headrests, along with terrain modes, adaptive off-road cruise control, dynamic air suspension, parking assist, a Meridian 3D surround sound system, 360-degree camera, and a 13.1-inch Pivi Pro touch screen infotainment system among many others.
The Range Rover Sport SV will compete against the Audi RS Q8, Aston Martin DBX 707, and the Lamborghini Urus. Meanwhile, the Range Rover Sport PHEV has no direct competitors in India, but it could be compared to the plug-in hybrid version of the Porsche Cayenne sold globally.
