Now that all rumours regarding the Skoda Superb have been laid to rest, let’s get into some details. Priced at Rs 54.00 lakh (ex-showroom), the Superb now costs a whopping Rs 18.83 lakh over what it previously used to. Why? Because this time, Skoda is bringing it in as a CBU. Also, with just a limited run of 100 units, there’s a high chance you might miss out by the time you finish reading it.
Hmm… something’s amiss, right? Look closely in the images; this isn’t the new-generation Superb! It is, in fact, the same generation model that was sold here before getting discontinued due to the stringent BS6 emission norms. Not that we’re complaining, because let’s be honest; the Superb has been a great-looking car, and it retains the notchback boot as well.
It’s the same story under the hood, with the Superb carrying the same 2.0-litre TSI powertrain, producing 187 bhp and 32.63 kgm of torque, while paired to a 7-speed DSG transmission. What’s changed is that this powertrain is now BS6-2 emissions compliant. The Superb also packs dynamic chassis control with four pre-set and one custom mode available.
In terms of kit, the Skoda Superb now gets an ADAS suite, consisting of features such as drowsiness detection, parking assist, emergency brake assist, and a 360-degree camera. There’s a 10.23-inch instrument cluster, and a 9.1-inch infotainment touch screen. However, it continues to feature wired smartphone connectivity. Other things include 12-step powered front seats, with massage and memory function for the driver’s side, tri-zone climate control, air purification, an 11-speaker Canton sound system, and nine airbags among others.
