The fourth-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift is all set to make its debut next month, and it will also be tested by Bharat NCAP. However, safety ratings for the Japanese-spec Swift conducted by the JNCAP have been published, and they look promising indeed.
The Japanese-spec Swift has scored an overall 90 per cent in the JNCAP, with a score of 177.80 out of 190 points. In terms of collision safety performance, the Swift scored an overall 81.10 points out of 100, with 4/5 and 5/5 ratings in the full-wrap frontal collision tests for the driver and passenger respectively. In offset frontal collision tests, the Swift fared 4/5 and 3/5 ratings for the driver and passenger respectively, while scoring a full 5/5 in side collision tests and neck injury protection during rear collision tests.
The global-spec Swift comes fitted with ADAS features as well, and it is unlikely the India-spec model will be equipped with it. However, the Japanese-spec Swift secured full 5/5 ratings in the autonomous emergency braking tests, lane departure prevention, and high-performance headlight tests.
The India-spec Swift is unlikely to feature the ADAS suite, but we can expect it to be an improvement over the current model in terms of safety.
