Following the recent social media buildup, Suzuki has launched the brand new GSX-8R sportbike at Rs 9.25 lakh (ex-showroom) in India! Following its ADV sibling, the V-Strom 800DE, which arrived a few months ago, with which it also shares the same powertrain, it has been priced very competitively. Having first seen the motorcycle at the Bharat Mobility Expo in early 2024, it is great that Suzuki is bringing more of their big bikes into the country.

Suzuki GSX-8R

The new GSX-8R features Suzuki’s 776 cc parallel-twin, DOHC engine, pushing power figures of 83 bhp and 7.95 kgm of torque. Suzuki claims that its 270-degree crankshaft gives the engine power delivery characteristics and a pleasing sound, similar to Suzuki’s V-twin engines. Having ridden the V-Strom 800DE, we can confirm that this engine is one sweet but potent unit, and it should feel even more so on the GSX-8R. This engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox with a bi-directional quickshifter, which comes as standard. The Suzuki Clutch Assist System further helps make long rides more comfortable by reducing effort and providing smoother shifts.

The GSX-8R gets a trellis frame, a uniquely shaped lightweight aluminium swingarm, Showa suspension components and lightweight 17-inch alloys shod with Dunlop RoadSport 2 radial tyres. The Suzuki GSX-8R also features the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.) with a three-mode Suzuki Drive Mode Selector to adapt to different riding conditions and styles. It also includes the advanced four-mode Suzuki Traction Control System that can also be turned off. The bike also incorporates a Ride-by-Wire throttle, Bi-directional Quick Shift System, Antilock Braking System and Suzuki’s Low RPM Assist.

The GSX-8R will go up against the likes of the Triumph Daytona 660, which it already undercuts by around Rs 50,000. We can’t wait to ride the motorcycle and let you know our first-hand thoughts about it, so stay tuned!
