Maruti Suzuki has unveiled the production version of its eVX concept, called the e Vitara, which just debuted in Milan, Italy. Set to launch in India in the first quarter of 2025, the e Vitara is the brand’s first midsize electric SUV, designed to compete with the likes of the Tata Curvv.ev, Hyundai Creta EV, and Mahindra BE 05.

The design stays reminiscent of the eVX concept, showcasing a robust SUV profile with prominent wheel arches and an aggressive front end. It features sleek single-pod headlights with integrated LED DRLs and wraparound LED tail lights linked by black panelling in the middle. The e Vitara is equipped with either 18-inch or 19-inch alloy wheel options as per the variant. The rear door handles are positioned on the C-pillars like the previous Swift and the charging port is located on the front fender.

On the inside, the e Vitara has a two-tone interior, dual-screen layout, and a two-spoke steering wheel with a flat bottom. The centre console includes a rotary drive mode selector and electronic parking brake, alongside features like automatic climate control, smartphone connectivity, wireless charging, heated mirrors, and ADAS functionality.

Built on Maruti Suzuki’s dedicated ‘Heartect-e’ platform, the e Vitara comes with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm and a ground clearance of 180 mm. It weighs between 1,702 and 1,899 kg, depending on the variant. BYD will supply the e Vitara’s batteries, with options of 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The smaller battery supports a single front motor outputting 142 bhp and 19.27 kgm, while the larger battery offers both single-motor (172 bhp, 19.27 kgm) and dual-motor (184 bhp, 30.59 kgm) configurations.

Stay tuned for a detailed review once the EV is launched in India.
