BMW Motorrad has presented a concept at the EICMA 2024 — the Concept F 450 GS. This new motorcycle is slated to hit the streets in the production guise next year and bridge the gap between the G 310 GS and the F 800/900 GS.
While BMW hasn’t revealed the engine capacity, it will be around 450cc. The company has stated that the liquid-cooled parallel-twin motor has been developed from scratch and uses a unique ignition off-set for a rev-happy character. This engine is claimed to produce 47.3 bhp with good low-end grunt.
The Concept F 450 GS looks to be heavily inspired by the R 1300 GS. Right from its headlight to the tail section, everything is like a scaled-down version of BMW’s flagship ADV. While this concept came with fully-adjustable suspension and tubeless wire-spoke rims, the production version may not have that. That said, BMW is likely to retain the 6.5-inch TFT console, ABS Pro and ride modes from this concept.
BMW Motorrad will get this into production next year, and it is likely to be followed by the F 450 R. But will the German brand take its Indian partner — TVS’ help to build the engine and the bikes? And if that’s so, does that mean there will be an Apache RR 450 and a RTR 450 as well? With Aprilia and now BMW Motorrad having a 450cc parallel-twin mill, KTM should probably rethink its 490 Duke plans.
