A highlight at IBW 2024 will be a one-make flat track race featuring Harley-Davidson X440 motorcycles custom-built by Rajputana Customs, pictures of which have just been released. The race is affiliated with the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) and will follow all the rules and safety regulations under FMSCI scrutiny.
The modified X440 motorcycles get a new body kit along with a long flat bench seat. the front brake has been deleted and it seems to feature a new handlebar. the headlight and meter assembly have been replaced by a racing number plate shield, while the rear has been chopped to remove unnecessary weight. All in all, it looks the part, and we can’t wait to race with it!
Qualifying and quarter-final laps for all riders will decide the fastest 9 for the semi-finals. The ensuing top three will race in the finals to decide a winner, who will get to take home a grand prize of Rs 10 lakh! Expect a spectacle of speed and skill for both participants and spectators. Registrations will go live on the IBW website’s ‘Race’ section from November 15 for a limited number of 81 participants only.
‘Harley-Davidson’s association with Flat Track racing goes back almost a century. India’s tryst with flat tracking started in 2017, with the very first track being made at IBW and a custom-built Harley-Davidson Street 750 tracker put to the test on the track. With the new Harley-Davidson X440, the potential for existing and new racers to experience an authentic American racing format is immense. We have great hopes that this would be the start of a new chapter in the Indian racing scene, and we are very excited to come on board,’ said Ravi Avalur, M-D Harley-Davidson India.
