Kia is gearing up to make waves in India’s electric vehicle market with the debut of the Carens Clavis EV on 15 July. Marking Kia’s first locally produced EV in the country, the Clavis EV enters the competitive electric SUV space with an impressive claimed range of 490km—17km more than its cousin, the Hyundai Creta EV (51.4kWh variant). What makes this figure particularly intriguing is that the Clavis EV is expected to offer three rows of seating, raising questions about how Kia has optimized efficiency without compromising space.
A teaser video confirms the Clavis EV will offer seven-seat and likely six-seat configurations—the latter featuring captain chairs in the second row for added comfort. The cabin sports a premium beige-and-black theme, complemented by modern touches like dual digital screens (infotainment and instrument cluster), a two-spoke steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, and a panoramic sunroof.

If Kia carries over features from the ICE Carens, expect Level 2 ADAS, ventilated front seats, a powered driver’s seat, connected car tech, and a digital IRVM (Inside Rear View Mirror). A wireless charger and full LED lighting package further sweeten the deal.
The Clavis EV enters a heated battleground, locking horns with the Hyundai Creta EV, MG ZS EV, Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE.6, and upcoming Maruti e-Vitara. Kia’s challenge will be balancing pricing—likely between ₹25-30 lakh—while justifying its three-row practicality against rivals.
Kia’s 15 July reveal will clarify key details like final specs, charging speeds, and variant-wise pricing. If the claimed range holds up in real-world conditions, the Clavis EV could emerge as a strong family-friendly EV alternative.
