Maruti Suzuki’s made-in-India Jimny 5-door has achieved a remarkable export milestone — crossing the 1 lakh units mark. The compact off-roader has rapidly gained traction in international markets such as Japan, Australia, Mexico, and Latin America, reinforcing India’s growing role as a global hub for automobile manufacturing.
Introduced in Japan earlier this year as the Jimny Nomade, the five-door variant captured hearts instantly, receiving an overwhelming 50,000 orders within days of its launch. The model combines rugged off-road capabilities with a practical five-door layout, making it a versatile choice for adventure seekers and city drivers alike.
Speaking on the achievement, Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “The Jimny has over half a century of heritage globally. The Jimny 5-door crossing the one lakh export mark is a proud moment for Maruti Suzuki. We are deeply thankful to customers around the world for their trust in this acclaimed SUV. Built on a ladder-frame chassis, the Jimny 5-door retains the iconic go-anywhere DNA of its predecessors. It’s powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 103 bhp and 13.66 kgm of torque, paired with either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic gearbox. The SUV’s ALLGRIP PRO 4WD system with a low-range transfer case gives it impressive off-road performance, while its compact dimensions and exceptional slalom agility make it equally adept in urban conditions.
This success also aligns with Maruti Suzuki’s record-breaking export performance. With the Jimny leading the charge, Maruti Suzuki continues to redefine India’s global automotive presence — one milestone at a time.
