JSW MG Motor India has added a significant milestone to its scoreboard, with the Windsor EV crossing the 50,000-unit sales mark in the country. What makes this achievement really stand out is the pace; the electric crossover has managed to hit this figure in just a little over 400 days since it first went on sale in September 2024. For a relatively new EV nameplate in an increasingly crowded segment, that’s no small feat.

Here’s the thing: the Windsor EV didn’t try to reinvent the idea of an electric crossover. Instead, it arrived with a sharply targeted strategy, an accessible entry point, a long list of features, and the kind of variant spread that speaks to a wide range of buyers. The base price of Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom), offered through the battery rental programme, immediately gave it a hook. From there, MG layered the lineup with six trims, Excite, Exclusive, Essence, Exclusive Pro, Essence Pro, and the Inspire Edition.

The Inspire Edition deserves its own mention. Introduced in October as a limited-run model capped at just 300 units, it came with a few extra touches and a sticker price of Rs 16.65 lakh (ex-showroom), adding a bit of exclusivity to the otherwise mass-market equation.

Where the Windsor EV builds most of its appeal, though, is under the skin. MG offers two battery options to keep the car within reach of both city-first users and long-haul commuters. The smaller 38 kWh pack comes with a claimed MIDC range of 332 km, more than enough for the average weekly routine. The larger 52.9 kWh unit pushes the certified range up to 449 km, giving buyers the confidence to stretch their travel plans without hunting for a charger every few hours.

Put it all together, pricing, variant flexibility, usable range, and MG’s growing footprint, and the Windsor EV’s 50,000-unit sales milestone starts to make complete sense. It’s a sign that the electric mainstream in India isn’t just coming; it’s very much here, and cars like the Windsor EV are helping define what that future looks like.
