Mahindra has kicked off 2026 on a strong note, announcing the opening of bookings for the new XUV 7XO and the all-electric XEV 9S, and the response has been nothing short of massive. Within just a few hours of bookings going live, the two SUVs together recorded 93,689 confirmed orders, making it one of the highest single-day booking totals in the brand’s history.

According to Mahindra, this surge reflects the growing appetite for its latest-generation SUVs, which aim to blend bold design, next-generation technology, and multiple powertrain options. The company added that the milestone further strengthens its position in India’s rapidly expanding SUV market, crediting its success to category-defining products, robust manufacturing capacity and a steady pace of product innovation.

On the deliveries front, Mahindra has outlined a phased rollout strategy across its dealership network. Deliveries of the electric XEV 9S are scheduled to begin the week of 26 January 2026, while customer deliveries of the XUV 7XO have already commenced today. With strong early demand now translating into deliveries, both models are expected to play a key role in Mahindra’s SUV and EV push over the coming months.

The strong response also highlights how distinctly Mahindra has positioned both SUVs within its growing portfolio. The XUV 7XO is aimed squarely at the heart of the midsize SUV segment, focusing on high volumes by offering a familiar SUV formula backed by fresh design, modern features and a value-led approach that has traditionally worked well for the brand. It is expected to appeal to both existing Mahindra owners upgrading within the brand and new buyers entering the SUV space.

On the other hand, the XEV 9S represents a more technology-forward step for Mahindra, serving as a flagship electric SUV that underlines the company’s long-term EV ambitions. With its emphasis on new-age design, advanced software-led features and an electric-only platform, the XEV 9S is positioned to attract early adopters and customers looking to transition into premium electric mobility without stepping outside the SUV format.
