‘The shape of desire’, that’s how MV Agusta defines its latest creation — the Superveloce 1000 Serie Oro. Doesn’t the name itself convey the message? One of the hottest motorcycles of our times, the Superveloce, with not just a bigger engine, but also the exclusivity of the ‘Serie Oro’ tag.
MV Agusta has used a 998cc inline-four mill that delivers over 207 bhp and 11.8 kgm. The highly over squared unit (79-mm bore and 50.9-mm stroke) uses titanium valves, forged titanium connecting rods and DLC-coated cams to blitz to its 14,000-rpm redline. To give the rider (and everyone around) the aural pleasure, the House Of Varese and Akrapovic have co-developed the iconic 4-exit underseat exhaust a la the F4.
With that kind of performance on tap, and a top speed of over 300 kph, the design was key, too. And MV Agusta did not disappoint… like always. The Superveloce 1000 takes everything that we loved about the Superveloce 800’s design and dials it up a notch. So, at the front, there are two air intakes and winglets that are intended to keep the front tyre on the ground. From the side, the complex lines of the tank and even the chassis is the epitome of ‘attention to detail’. And being a ‘Serie Oro’ product, there is an abundance of exquisite materials. For instance, the seat is a mix of leather and alcantara, and the fairing features 41 pieces of carbon fibre.
Needless to say, the hardware and electronic suite is top shelf, too. 43-mm Öhlins NIX EC front fork, TTX EC gas-charged monoshock to handle suspension duties and Brembo Stylema monoblocks to drop the anchor. The Italian marque has equipped the bike with eight level traction control, wheelie control, four riding modes, cornering ABS and electronically assisted quickshifter.
There will be only five hundred examples of the Superveloce 1000 Serie Oro, and hopefully a standard version at EICMA this year. But for this exquisite beauty, you will have to shell out € 70,700 or Rs. 64.65 lakh. Yes, that is the price for owning a piece of Motorcycle Art.
