Honda’s kickstarting the new year by launching the all-new 2022 CBR650R via the CKD route. It’s priced at Rs 9.35 lakh (ex-showroom, Gurugram), which is Rs 47,000 dearer than the outgoing model. If you ask us, that’s pretty steep considering there are only a few visual changes on the bike. Apart from the new upper and lower fairings, the Mat Gunpower Black Metallic colour gets new orange highlights, while the Grand Prix Red colour bike gets new sporty graphics. If you’re still considering the CBR650 then you can book one from any of the nearest BigWing Topline showrooms.
The mechanical bits on the CBR650R are still the same; powering it is a 649cc inline four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 85 bhp at 12000 rpm and 5.86 kgm at 8500 rpm. It features a 6-speed ‘box that gets an assist and a slipper clutch. Up front, it has Showa Separate Function-Big Piston USD forks and monoshock at the rear. Braking duties are carried out by 310-mm dual discs at the front and a 240-mm single rotor at the rear along with dual-channel ABS.
We haven’t ridden the new one yet, but if you still want to know how good the CBR650R performs? You can read Anubhav’s story on the 2021 CBR650R.
