Alex Marquez has secured his MotoGP future for the next two seasons with Gresini Racing, having recently agreed to extend his contract until the end of the 2026 season. The confirmation of this deal, which came through Motorsport.com last week, follows speculation within the paddock.

Marquez’s contract extension marks a significant step in his career, highlighting a successful transition from the challenging Honda RC213V to the Ducati Desmosedici. His difficulties with Honda are widely known, making his move to Gresini and subsequent adjustment to the Ducati an important progression.

While his brother Marc Marquez has been promoted to the factory Ducati squad for next year, Gresini Racing’s plans for the 2025 season remain undisclosed.

In his remarks regarding the contract extension, Alex Marquez underscored his commitment to consistency and conveyed his belief in the strength of the Gresini team. He stated that staying with Gresini had been his primary goal and expressed his ambition to consistently challenge the frontrunners, an objective he acknowledged has not been fully realized thus far. Despite a season start that fell short of their expectations, Marquez expressed optimism about the team’s potential. He also extended gratitude to Nadia Padovani for her trust and expressed confidence that they would soon reciprocate with celebratory pineapple pizza.

Marquez’s 2023 season with Gresini showcased notable performances. He secured a podium finish in only his second race with the team in Argentina and later added another podium in Malaysia, along with victories at Silverstone and Sepang sprints. These achievements contributed to his career-best ninth-place finish in the championship standings.

With this contract extension, Alex Marquez secures his MotoGP future for the next two seasons and aims to build on his strong performances alongside Gresini Racing. Whether he can achieve the consistency needed to challenge for podium finishes remains to be seen. However, one thing is certain – the partnership between Marquez and Gresini promises to be an exciting prospect as MotoGP enters a new era.
