BMW has launched the all-new BMW F 900 GS and F 900 GS Adventure in India. Both models will be available as Completely Built-up Units. The BMW F 900 GS starts at Rs. 13.75 lakh (ex-showroom), and the BMW F 900 GS Adventure at Rs. 14.75 lakh (ex-showroom). Here’s what we know:
Both bikes are powered by a 2-cylinder engine, producing 105 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 9.5 kgm of torque at 6,750 rpm. They are mated to a six-speed gearbox and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in just 3.6 seconds. Quick!
In terms of chassis and suspension, both models feature 43 mm upside-down telescopic forks and an aluminium double-sided swingarm with a central spring strut in the rear.
They both have a 15-litre fuel tank and come equipped with LED lights. The 6.5-inch TFT display is standard, offering Bluetooth connectivity, community features, and traction control.
Now, where do they differ? In an almost interesting way.
The F 900 GS is designed for off-road use, featuring a redesigned tank, radiator trims, and frame accents with the GS logo for better grip. It retains the iconic GS beak and gets a new rear section.
What’s more? The Akrapovič exhaust system is standard on this model and only this model; the Adventure does not get a taste of this. Closing the differences is a reshaped plastic fuel tank, handlebars that are now 15 mm higher, and the Enduro footrests are 20 mm lower than the previous model.
The BMW F 900 GS Adventure is aimed at long-distance touring. It shares many features with the F 900 GS but includes some upgrades. The Adventure model has adjustable clutch and brake levers, unlike the GS. It also features a comfort seat compared to the GS’s standard seat. Aesthetically, the Adventure comes in Blackstorm Metallic, which is quite tasteful.
While the differences may seem minor, they are notable. The absence of adjustable levers on the GS, despite being priced at Rs. 13.75 lakh (ex-showroom), and the presence of the Akrapovič exhaust on the GS, are interesting choices.
