BMW Motorrad has introduced the latest edition of the S 1000 XR in India, furthering its big-bike lineup for this year. Drawing inspiration from its supersport counterpart, the S 1000 RR, the S 1000 XR showcases a blend of practicality and sporty-aggressive aesthetics.
The S 1000 XR is powered by a 999cc inline four-cylinder engine, producing 170bhp and 11.5kgm of torque. This engine carried over from the S 1000 RR, but is now detuned! Coming paired with a six-speed gearbox, this bike is designed to meet more real-world scenarios. Managing its performance, the bike is equipped with advanced electronics, including a colour TFT display, multiple riding modes, ABS, traction control, and engine brake control.
BMW has fitted the S 1000 XR with upside-down (USD) front forks, a mono-shock, and a stabiliser. The braking system is fulfilled by dual front discs and a single rear disc with dual-channel ABS. The bike rides on 17-inch wheels with road-focused tyres: 120/70 at the front and 190/55 at the rear. Additionally, BMW offers optional accessories for enhanced touring capabilities, such as panniers, a top box, and carbon fibre crash bars.
It features a split LED headlight integrated into a sleek fascia, topped with a smoked visor and characterised by chiselled bodywork. Designed for touring, the S 1000 XR maintains a tall stance and an upright, commanding riding posture.
Customers can choose from three colour options: Light White, Black Storm Metallic 2, and Gravity Blue Metallic. The BMW S 1000 XR is priced at Rs 22.50 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), reflecting an increase of Rs. 40,000 compared to the 2023 model.
