With a host of new motorcycles from various manufacturers making their way into the market in the adventure motorcycling segment, one interesting prospect is the newly unveiled CFMOTO 450MT. Having debuted recently at EICMA 2023, the CFMOTO 450MT could prove to be a worthy adversary to the likes of the newly launched Royal Enfield Himalayan 450.
Powered by a 449cc parallel-twin engine paired to a 6-speed gearbox, the 450MT delivers 43.58 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 4.48 kgm at 6,250 rpm. Dual balance shafts have been integrated to enhance throttle response and reduce vibrations. The 450MT maintains a dry weight of just 175kg, making it a significantly lightweight choice for adventure enthusiasts. The motorcycle’s on and off-road capabilities are significantly enhanced with 200mm of travel offered by KYB suspension components, featuring adjustable compression, rebound damping, and spring preload.
The motorcycle gets a sleek and modern design, while the ergonomics appear to have been set to provide comfort during long journeys on windy roads while ensuring definitive control off-road as well as on tarmac. Equipped with tubeless 90/90 R21 front and 140/70 R18 rear wheels, a generous 220mm of ground clearance, and a comfortable 820mm seat height (800 mm with an optional low seat), the 450MT seems more than ready to take on challenging terrain.
To further enhance off-road capabilities, riders have the option to disable the dual-channel ABS on the rear wheel via a dedicated button on the handlebar. Additionally, the Traction Control System (TCS) can likewise be disengaged through the 5″ TFT colour display, which also supports Bluetooth connectivity and OTA functionality.
Sadly, the CFMOTO 450MT is unlikely to make it to Indian shores, considering that the brand isn’t exactly functional in India anymore. Still, if they decide to make a comeback, the 450MT would be well-received, going up against the likes of the RE Himalayan 450 and the upcoming KTM 390 ADV.
