After the go-anywhere version of DesertX — the DesertX Rally, Ducati has now revealed the new Discovery variant of the Italian ADV. As the name suggests, the Ducati DesertX Discovery is a touring variant, and is positioned between the standard and the Rally version.

The DesertX Discovery comes with a bunch of goodies to make mile munching an easy affair. So, straight off the showroom, the bike comes with reinforced handguards, radiator grill, engine guards and a sturdier bash plate. This bash plate comes with a reinforcement that directs impacts away onto the strongest part of the frame for effective protection. Of course, a touring version without panniers would be incomplete, so Ducati offers aluminium ones with the bike.

Furthermore, there’s the luxury of heated grips, a taller windshield and a centre stand along with turn-by-turn navigation via the Ducati Link app. And to complete the package, there’s a dedicated ‘Thrilling Black And Ducati Red’ livery.

Ducati’s Testastretta 11° desmodromic engine continues to power this variant with no changes in the performance figures from the 110 bhp and 9.3 kgm of the standard model. Interestingly, the touring version doesn’t come with the auxiliary fuel tanks that can take the fuel capacity from 21 litres to 29 litres.

The standard DesertX retails at Rs 18.33 lakh while the Rally will set you back by Rs 23.70 lakh (both ex-showroom). Considering that the Italian marquee never shies away from bringing its models to India, we expect the Discovery will hit our floors next year with a price tag of around Rs 21 lakh.
