Royal Enfield has resurrected the Flying Flea but not in the way everyone anticipated it to. In fact, the iconic ‘Flying Flea’ name will now function as a completely separate vertical dedicated to Royal Enfield’s electric bike, and the first one is the C6 — a roadster.

Royal Enfield, or rather Flying Flea, has not disclosed the full specifications of the C6 yet but didn’t shy away from showcasing the bike. The Flying Flea C6 is an absolute beauty to look at — combining retro elements with a neoteric design. For starters, the C6 flaunts a front girder suspension, once popular in the ’30s and the ’40s. This suspension is connected to a forged aluminium frame that is meant to keep the weight in check without compromising on strength. And at the centre sits the magnesium battery case. Finally, the mid-mounted motor is housed in a case that resembles a crankcase of a Royal Enfield bike.

The Flying Flea C6 also happens to be one of the most technologically sophisticated motorcycles featuring a circular touchscreen TFT console with connectivity, ride modes with multi-level regen, cornering ABS and traction control.

It’s an EV, so things like range, charging time and of course, performance matters, too. But we’ll have to wait a bit longer to get these details. However, that won’t be long because the company also announced that the C6 will be joined by the S6 scrambler in a few months. The render showed was interesting, and Flying Flea teased us by revealing features like aluminium spoke wheels, USD forks, 60 per cent more suspension travel (than C6?), enduro-style seat and faster 0-60 kph time (than C6, again?).

And remember the electric Himalayan test bed? Well, that’s been upgraded, too, and now looks a lot closer to production than before, although it may never go on sale… at least in this avatar. That said, with a new battery pack, UI and even electronic suspension, Flying Flea seems to be eager to test out all possibilities before giving us an electric ADV. Till then, the C6 and S6 should suffice.
