There was plenty to be seen at the Hero World 2024 event, as the Indian bike maker not only launched the Xtreme 125R, but it also showcased two other motorcycles as well, one of them being the much-awaited Mavrick, which we’ll get to in a bit. The Hero Xtreme 125R will be available in two variants; a non-ABS variant priced at Rs 95,000, and a single-channel ABS variant priced at Rs 99,500 (all prices ex-showroom).
The Hero Xtreme 125R is built on a completely new platform, and features a new 125 cc engine packing 11.4 bhp at 8,250 rpm, with the torque figure remaining unspecified for now. This makes the Xtreme 125R more powerful than the TVS Raider, Honda Shine 125, and the Honda SP 125, but only marginally. Hero also claims a fuel efficiency figure of 66 kmpl. Underpinned by a new lightweight diamond frame, the Xtreme 125R makes use of 37 mm telescopic forks and a seven-step preload adjustable monoshock from Showa. Hero Motocorp has also given the Xtreme 125R a 276 mm disc brake up front, which is the biggest in the 125 cc segment.
The Hero Xtreme 125R is the first in its segment to offer single-channel ABS, and other equipment on offer includes hazard lamps, an all-LED lighting setup, and a digital instrument cluster among other things.
That wasn’t all from the Hero World event though; The upcoming Hero Mavrick will be available for bookings from February onwards, which will be followed by a price announcement, and deliveries are set to take place in April. Hero also showcased a special motorcycle based on the Karizma XMR, paying tribute to Dr Brijmohan Lall Munjal, Founder of the Hero Group.
