Honda’s Activa e: is one of the latest electric scooter offerings from an established manufacturer, aimed at entering the competitive EV market alongside well-established players like the Bajaj Chetak and TVS iQube. While all three models target urban consumers seeking sustainable mobility solutions, determining an appropriate price for the Activa e: requires careful consideration of various factors, including features, performance, and more.

The Activa e uses a proprietary permanent magnet synchronous motor, producing a peak output of 8 bhp and 2.2 kgm of peak torque. It accelerates from zero to 60 kph in 7.3 seconds and has a maximum speed of 80 kph. The scooter includes three riding modes — Econ, Standard, and Sport — that adjust performance to suit different riding conditions. The e-scooter is equipped with two Honda Mobile Power Pack e: swappable batteries, each of 1.5 kWh capacity, and has a claimed range of 102 km.

In comparison, the TVS iQube ST with a 5.1 kWh battery pack offers a range of 150 km on a single charge, while the 3.4 kWh variant, which is comparable to the Honda Activa e, comes with a claimed range of 100 km which is just 2 km less than what Honda claims to offer. Both these models are priced at Rs 1.85 lakh and Rs 1.56 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively.

The Chetak 3202 on the other hand is powered by a 4.2 kW PMS motor which produces a power output of 5.36 bhp. The battery pack is a 3.2 kWh lithium-ion unit, which allows it to run up to a claimed 137 km in Eco mode. The scooter’s top speed for the standard variant is 63 kph whereas the TecPac gets a top speed of 73 kph. This is priced at Rs 1.20 lakh (ex-showroom), which brings us to how the Activa e: should be priced.

Ideally, the Activa e: should be positioned in the Rs 1.10 lakh to Rs 1.30 lakh range. This pricing would allow Honda to leverage its brand loyalty while remaining competitive against the Chetak and iQube, both of which offer comparable (if not better) range and performance. Offering the Activa e: at a price closer to Rs 1.10 lakh would make it more attractive to first-time electric vehicle buyers, especially when considering Honda’s extensive service network and brand recognition. This, coupled with the planned battery swapping stations, could effectively make the Activa e: a more convenient option for the masses.

Stay tuned for the detailed review of the Honda Activa e: to get a proper handle on the electric scooter, and how it actually performs.
