If you don’t mind having an electric motor under a fully-faired or a naked bike then Kabira Mobility have just the bikes for you. First is the fully-faired KM3000, which has an uncanny resemblance to the Kawasaki Ninja 300. Then there is the KM4000, which again resembles a naked litre-class bike. What a coincidence!
Powering the KM3000 is a 4 kWh battery pack which according to the company can hit a top speed of 100 kph in Sports mode and has a range of 120 km in Eco mode. As for the KM4000, it runs on a 4.4 kWh battery pack, which has a claimed top speed of 120 kph in Sports mode and has a range of 150 km in Eco mode. Stopping power comes from combi-brakes, and there’s roadside assistance facility during an emergency battery drain situation.
The KM3000 has a kerb weight of 138 kg, while the KM4000 weighs 147 kg. Both the electric bikes can be charged in two modes: Eco and Boost. Charging the battery from 0 to 100 percent in Eco mode can take 6 hours and 30 minutes and in Boost mode, it takes only 50 minutes to charge from 0 to 80 percent. Well, one would agree that the range and speeds are impressive. But, we’ll soon let you know whether the on-road performance figures match its on-paper performance figures.
Kabira Mobility is surely tapping into the unexplored market of electric sport bikes in India, naturally, it has no competition apart from the Revolt RV400, which is sold only in limited cities. The bookings for KM3000 and KM4000 are open and deliveries will begin from May this year. However, it will currently only be available in nine cities which include Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Pune, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Goa and Dharwad. If you fancy buying one, be ready to shell out Rs 1.27 lakh for the KM3000 and Rs 1.37 lakh for the KM4000, both ex-showroom, Goa.
