Do you want a bike that looks fast even when it is standing still, is capable of offering a controlled level of power and has a riding triangle that won’t break your back? Kawasaki has just the bike for you. The Japanese bike maker has introduced the new BS6-compliant Ninja 650 in the country. With a sticker price of Rs 6.24 lakh, ex-showroom, India, buying one won’t burn a big hole in your pocket either, as the bike will be manufactured locally.
For that price, besides the BS6 update, Kawasaki has added a couple of new features that make the bike more modern and fun to ride.
In terms of styling, not much has changed on the bike compared to its predecessor. It retains the same fairing design along with the striking twin-headlamps which are now equipped with LED lamps. Behind the windscreen now sits a new 4.3-inch TFT colour instrument cluster that also has smartphone connectivity via the ‘Rideology’ app. Furthermore, the 2020 Ninja 650 gets new shoes in the form of Dunlop Sportmax Roadsport 2 tyres for better performance while braking and improved grip in dry and wet conditions.
Coming to the powerplant, the folks at Kawasaki have managed to refine the existing 649cc parallel-twin unit. The motor is now said to churn out more torque in the mid-range compared to the BS4 version. Despite these improvements, the peak power output from the motor continues to remain the same at 66.4bhp and 6.52kgm, but rideability should be improved.
Lastly, Kawasaki is offering the 2020 Ninja 650 with the choice of two liveries, Lime Green/Ebony and Pearl Flat Stardust White/Metallic Flat Spark Black.
