First things first, the Street Triple R is replacing the Street Triple S, which was the base model in India. And only the Street Triple R and Street Triple RS will be on sale.
The Street Triple R gets a powerful BS6-compliant 765cc in-line three-cylinder engine. It produces 116 bhp@12000 rpm and 8.05 kg-m of torque@9350 rpm, which is higher than the earlier base variant. There are also three riding modes on offer.
It now comes with all-new bodywork, new LED headlights, mirrors, silencers among other things. Some noteworthy features include an up-down quick shifter, Showa adjustable springs, Brembo M4.32 brake callipers and Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tyres along with traction control and ABS.
The new headlights and flyscreen are similar to the ones seen on the Street Triple RS but the Street Triple R misses out on a full-colour TFT display screen.
As for the price, the Street Triple R will set you back by Rs 8.84 lakh, ex-showroom, which is still Rs 2.29 lakh down on the top-spec Street Triple RS. At that price point, this would directly compete against the likes of KTM 790 Duke, Yamaha MT-09, Ducati Monster among others.
