Royal Enfield has finally launched the Scram 440 following its debut at Motoverse 2024. The new bike is available in two variants: Trail and Force, priced at Rs 2.08 lakh and Rs 2.15 lakh respectively (ex-showroom Chennai).
The biggest update on the Royal Enfield Scram 440 is the new 443cc air-/oil-cooled engine that makes 25.4 bhp and 3.4 kgm. Furthermore, the engine now benefits from a six-speed gearbox, which is claimed to improve the NVH levels and make highway riding a tad easier.
And to complement the updates to the engine, Royal Enfield has now strengthened the frame for durability. The chassis rests on telescopic forks and a monoshock offering 190-mm and 180-mm wheel travel respectively. Depending on the variant, you can get wire-spoke rims or alloy wheels. With all the changes, the Scram 440 is just 2 kg heavier than the Scram 411.
The Scram 440 features a part-analogue-part-digital instrument console with the top variant featuring the Tripper navigation, too. Of course, there is switchable ABS on this bike as standard.
The Royal Enfield Scram 440 seems like an affordable and manageable alternative to the 450 duo for people who prefer the torquey nature of a long-stroke engine. Although this seems enticing on paper, will it feel the same on the road? Only a ride will tell.
