Royal Enfield has officially unveiled the Super Meteor 650 at EICMA 2022. The motorcycle will be available in two variants, a Standard version and a Tourer. It is based on the 648cc twin platform shared with the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650.
The Super Meteor 650 gets the typical cruiser treatment with a low-slung seat and wide handlebars. The bike also features a round LED headlamp, a dual-pod instrument console with Tripper Navigation and dual exhausts. It also gets a 43 mm upside-down fork suspension setup up front, which is a first for Royal Enfield. Braking is handled by a 320 mm front disc and a 300 mm rear rotor. Additionally, the tourer version is further equipped with a tall windscreen, a pillion backrest, panniers, larger footpegs and a touring handlebar.
‘We have always had a differentiated approach to building motorcycles and our new cruiser, the Super Meteor 650, is the next evolution of this approach. Inspired by our own long-distance riding experiences and those of our customers, we have built the Super Meteor to be absolutely enjoyable to all senses.’
‘The engine is super refined and responsive and offers a relaxed part-throttle experience at highway-plus speeds, the riding ergonomics are fine-tuned to offer a leisurely, yet in-control riding experience and the overall premium fit-finish of parts and materials evoke visual and sensory delight. The gorgeous silhouette and contours of the Super Meteor have been inspired by generations of cruisers from Royal Enfield, and are at the same time, familiar, yet absolutely distinct’, said Siddhartha Lal, Managing Director of Eicher Motors Ltd.
The 648cc, parallel-twin engine from the Interceptor and Continental GT, has been tuned to produce 46.2 bhp at 7250 rpm and 5.3 kgm of torque at 5650 rpm. This unit is paired with a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch. The Super Meteor 650 will be available in a total of seven colour schemes. It will be available in Astral Black, Astral Blue, Astral Green, Interstellar Grey, Interstellar Green, Celestial Red and Celestial Blue colours.
