The TVS Apache RTR 165 RP is the first production machine that’s inspired by TVS Racing’s race machine lineage. The RP in the RTR 165 RP stands for Race Performance. We’ll definitely put that claim to test, whenever we get an opportunity to ride it.
The RTR 165 RP is based on the RTR 160 4V, but it uses a revised bore to stroke ratio, therefore it has better performance than it. The RP edition is powered by a 165cc single-cylinder engine that produces a decent 19 bhp and 1.44 kgm. Moreover, the new cylinder head now comes with a 35 per cent increase in intake and a twin electrode spark plug. Even the valves are bigger by 15 per cent, which is controlled by Hi-Lift Hi-Duration cams and dual spring actuators. Plus, it gets a new dome piston for a higher compression ratio.
It also features equipment like a race-tuned slipper clutch, adjustable clutch and brake levers. Speaking of braking, it gets a first-in-segment 240-mm rear disc brake. On the cosmetic side of things, it is nicely decked up in TVS Racing decals and red alloy wheels. But, you better hurry to book yours as TVS is only going to sell 200 units of this variant, and for that TVS is asking Rs 1.45 lakh (ex-Delhi). Does that tickle your fancy?
