Ultraviolette Automotive has unveiled the F99 Factory Racing Platform, with ambitious plans to set two major records. The first is for the highest top speed by an Indian motorcycle, and the second is for the fastest quarter-mile (402m) time, both to be attempted in the coming days.
The F99, originally introduced at EICMA, Milan 2023, is powered by a 120 bhp liquid-cooled electric motor that delivers a top speed of 265 kph and accelerates from 0 to 100 kph in 3 seconds. To put this in perspective, the Yamaha R6, with a comparable output of 120 bhp, takes 3.35 seconds to reach 100 kph.
In terms of design, the F99 has an aggressive, cyberpunk-esque aesthetic. Ultraviolette has long been a fan of and drawn inspiration from jets, and this is no different. It presents a very Pagani-like mindset for the electric bike world. Winglets and air ducts are on the fairing, front cowl, and side panels. The bike features ‘Active Aerodynamics,’ with electronically actuated fairings that adapt to changes in lean angle in real-time to increase downward force, akin to aircraft flaps.
The F99 has an inverted fork and monoshock suspension system, with the bike running on 17-inch alloy wheels fitted with 120-section front and 180-section rear tyres. Braking is provided by disc brakes on both ends, and the bike’s kerb weight is 178kg—19kg lighter than the Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2.
To add more fuel to this electric fire, CEO Narayan Subramaniam recently issued a challenge to Bajaj Auto’s MD Rajiv Bajaj, signalling Ultraviolette’s dominance. The F99 used for this challenge is a pre-production model, with the production version set to launch in 2025, expected to be priced at around Rs. 8 lakh (ex-showroom).
