Yamaha has announced a multi-year agreement with Prima Pramac Racing, designating it as Yamaha’s second Factory Team starting in 2025. This new partnership will see close collaboration between the two parties, with Yamaha providing Factory YZR-M1 bikes, contracting riders directly, and having Yamaha’s MotoGP engineering staff work alongside the Prima Pramac Racing team. Despite this close partnership, Prima Pramac Racing will remain an independently owned team based in Rugby, UK.
The 2025 lineup, however, requires some wait and patience.
Lin Jarvis, Managing Director of Yamaha Motor Racing, highlighted that these are busy times for Yamaha, both on and off the track. He noted that Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. and Yamaha Motor Racing have been clear about their focus on bike development. Jarvis described the new partnership with Prima Pramac Racing as the next exciting phase for Yamaha. Unlike previous arrangements, Prima Pramac Racing will not operate as a satellite team but will receive the same Factory bikes as the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team.
This collaboration will look to speed up bike development, which remains a priority for Yamaha to return to winning form and to have four competitive riders in the MotoGP championship across two top-tier teams. Additionally, the partnership includes a future Moto2 project designed to create a platform for grooming future MotoGP riders, with details to be developed in the coming months.
Jarvis expressed his gratitude to Paolo Campinoti, CEO of Pramac, and Gino Borsoi, Team Manager of Prima Pramac Racing, for their trust in Yamaha. He assured them of Yamaha’s full commitment to making this new partnership highly successful for many years.
