Yamaha has unveiled the Ténéré 4 Concept, a new lightweight adventure motorcycle that will expand its Ténéré family in the coming years. Revealed ahead of EICMA 2026 in Milan, the concept features a newly developed single-cylinder engine and chassis, and is aimed at riders looking for a more accessible, off-road-focused adventure motorcycle.

The Ténéré 4 Concept is currently under development, with Yamaha yet to disclose its engine capacity, power output, weight or production timeline. The new engine is claimed to offer strong low- and mid-range torque while retaining the ability to rev freely. It is also being developed to meet Europe’s A2 motorcycle licence requirements, which permit motorcycles producing up to 47.6 bhp.

The motorcycle gets an all-new frame, KYB suspension and 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoke wheels. These are shod with Michelin Anakee Wild tyres, while an Akrapovič titanium exhaust completes the hardware package, although either of these are unlikely to make it to the production bike as a standard fitment. Its styling draws inspiration from the larger Ténéré 700, with a slim profile and a flat, low-mounted fuel tank inspired by Yamaha’s rally-raid heritage.

The 400-450cc adventure motorcycle segment  is seeing a shift, and this bike could sit bang in between that. While the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 continues with the single-cylinder approach, BMW has moved to a parallel-twin with the F 450 GS, and Aprilia is also likely to reveal the Tuareg 457 at EICMA today. And KTM? Well, the parallel-twin platform has already been confirmed, so, it’s only a matter of months before the spy shots of the 490 Adventure start popping up on the internet.

But more importantly, is the T4 going to make it to India? We really hope so, although Yamaha has still kept the Ténéré 700 from us.
