Not many realise the importance of adjusting their car’s outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs) or side-view mirrors. You only need a few minutes to adjust them before you hit the road, but if nobody drives your car apart from you then you don’t have to bother about it. We see so many people ignoring this basic check.
Eliminating the blind spot should be your main focus whenever you set up your ORVMs. Yes, you can do that by following these simple steps. When you’re in the driver’s seat, lean your head against the driver’s side window (right side) then adjust that mirror until you can just barely see the edge of your car, then sit back up. Do the same thing on the passenger side as well. In our case, lean approximately the same distance toward the left side (passenger side), and adjust the mirror until you can just barely see the edge of your car. After you’re done with this, sit back up straight and you will be able to see any part of your car in the ORVMs without tilting your head to one side. And that’s how you can eliminate your blind spot!
It will take time getting used to this setting, but these adjustments should be taken as a long-term benefit. This will save you from getting involved in an accident, therefore saving you money. So, #BeTheBetterGuy, use your ORVMs, always give turn signals, wait for 3 seconds, check your ORVMs and then change lanes. Drive safe, everyone!
