For a little less premium, the Audi A4 ‘Premium’ variant is the new entry-level variant in the A4 lineup. Priced at Rs 39.99 lakh (ex-showroom), it’s packed with a decent amount of features like the striking all-LED lighting setup, a glass sunroof, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charging, six airbags and cruise control, among other things. That is Audi’s way of celebrating a successful year!
The entry-level Premium variant is Rs 7.62 lakh lighter on the pocket than the top-spec Technology variant. For Rs 47.61 lakh (ex-showroom), it gets a few features extra. For instance, it features the Audi Virtual Cockpit Plus digital instrument cluster, multi-coloured ambient lighting, and multi-zone climate control. That’s a significant jump in price for a few features.
As far as the performance is concerned, the Premium variant still runs on the same 188-bhp 2.0-litre TFSI engine that produces 32.63 kgm of torque. The engine’s linked to a 7-speed dual-clutch auto ‘box and sends all the horses available to its front wheels. With a 241-kph top speed and a 0-100-kph sprint time of 7.3 seconds, the A4 is decently quick. Earlier this year, we drove the A4, you can read all about it here.
The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe 220i Sport variant is a direct competitor to the A4 Premium variant as it is Rs 50,000 cheaper than the A4 Premium variant. Whereas, both the Mercedes-Benz A-Class A200 (Rs 41.55 lakh, ex-showroom), and the newly launched Volvo S60 (Rs 45.90 lakh, ex-showroom) are expensive as far as FWD cars are concerned.
