Right from the time when Kia dropped the Sportage teaser, we expected it to be more expressive than before. Guess what? The fifth-generation 2022 Kia Sportage has been unveiled and it is what we expected it to be.
This time, it’s the front that takes away all the attention with those boomerang-shaped DRLs that flank the black grille. The design is quite busy at the rear as well. Oh, and it’s for the first time that the Sportage has offered a contrasting roof option. Now, all this is based on Kia’s new ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy. Remember Kia’s EV6? Even that is based on the same design philosophy. So, if you really dig how the EV6 looked, then you certainly will have no doubts about this fifth-generation Sportage. Inside, it sports a huge curved display screen, rotary dials and a plush design, overall. Kia’s focused on giving the Sportage a premium appeal with the use of gloss-finish on the centre console, using high-quality materials and a host of soft-touch haptic switches as well.
Well, if this isn’t rugged enough for you then the Sportage X-Line with beefed-up body styling along with a roof rack will be also available soon. As for powertrain options, Kia’s not revealed the specifications for it yet. We are not sure whether Kia is looking to field the Sportage in India, but the Sportage will be available for the European markets as well along with the North American and ASEAN market.
