While the Panamera isn’t the first the first four-door from Porsche, it certainly raised a lot of interest when it was first showcased back in 2009. The Panamera was a “what if” situation that actually came true. Fourteen years later, the Panamera has entered its third generation, and it sees a host of new upgrades.
In terms of looks, the new Panamera is more of an evolution, and follows the typical Porsche design language of not straying apart from the core. Nonetheless, there is still some freshness to the way it looks. For example, the front fascia has been redone and gets a new nose, along with new headlights that resemble the ones on the new Cayenne. There is an additional air intake to meet the requirements of the drive systems. The sides and rear too have been tweaked, albeit subtly, but you’ll know something has been done.
While the 2024 Panamera is offered with a choice of hybrid and non-hybrid powertrains, along with all-wheel and rear-wheel driven options, Porsche decided to give us the 2.9-litre V6 powertrain with 348 bhp and 50.98 kgm of torque, which is an increase of 22 bhp and 5 kgm over the outgoing car. It now also reaches a top speed of 262 kph.
The interiors of the Panamera have come straight off the Taycan and the new Cayenne, featuring the same 12.6-inch instrument cluster, a 10.9-inch touch screen, and a passenger display as well. While the new Panamera is offered with the PASM two-valve, dual chamber air suspension, it misses out on Porsche’s ‘Active Ride’ that comes optionally with the more powerful versions. The other features include driving modes, park assist, LED matrix headlights, a cooled wireless smartphone charging pad, and a fine-dust filter with GPS-supported recirculation.
