Audi plans to introduce over 20 new models in the next year, with nearly half being electric. This year, Audi’s electric lineup began with the Audi Q6 e-tron in the spring and the Audi A6 e-tron in late July. At the same time, the brand is refreshing its combustion engine lineup with the Audi A5. Is that the end? Not at all!
Audi has now offered a preview of the upcoming Q5 SUV, one of its most popular models worldwide, with nearly 1,500 units sold in Q2 alone in India. A choice for the average Audi fan?
The familiar 2.0 liter TFSI petrol engine is expected to continue in the Indian version of the Q5, with mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants also being available. The current engine spec sheet is a 245bhp at 5000-6000 rpm peak power and a 37.73 kgm at 1600-4300 rpm peak torque outputing machine that is capable of hitting speeds of nearly 230 kph.
Details on the new Q5 are limited. The teaser reveals a design update featuring new, sleek headlights, revised front bumper designs, and rumoured interior changes. These include a flat-bottomed steering wheel, 2-D logos, and a redesigned infotainment system that aligns with Audi’s latest models—familiar yet refreshed.
The new Q5 is scheduled for a 2 September launch and is expected to reach European markets by the end of the year.
The India launch is likely to follow next year, with the vehicle expected to carry forward the 2.0L turbo petrol engine from the current model.
