BMW India has announced a successful 2023, with a growth rate of 18 per cent, selling 22,940 units across all its three divisions; BMW and Mini together sold 14,172 cars, while the two-wheeler arm, BMW Motorrad sold a total of 8,768 motorcycles in 2023. The year closed on a high note for all three brands, registering the highest-ever sales for the fourth quarter of any year, with BMW and Mini together selling a total of 4,593 units, while BMW Motorrad sold a total of 1,990 units.
The Bavarian car maker says that its luxury segment, consisting of models such as the XM, X7, i7, and the 7 Series grew by 88%. The 7 Series further went on to win the Premium Car Award 2024 at the coveted Indian Car Of The Year Awards 2024, which took place not too long ago. BMW also says that its SUVs contributed to 54% of annual sales volumes, resulting in a 24% growth rate. The new X1 is said to have contributed 20% to overall sales, while the X7 is said to have claimed the second highest number of deliveries. In the sedan segment, the 3 Series was the best-selling car, with a 20% share of sales.
With a 55% share of sales, Mini claims that the Countryman was its most popular model, while also saying that sales for the electric Mini Cooper SE ‘more than doubled’, ending up as its second-highest selling model.
On the two-wheeler front, BMW Motorrad claims to registered a growth rate of 19% with its 310 cc models, while its premium motorcycles saw a growth rate of 33%, determined by its GS and RR models.
The next-generation 5 Series is expected to make its India debut sometime this year, and we cannot wait to see what else BMW has in store for us!
