BMW has officially launched the second-generation M4 CS in India, pricing it at Rs. 1.89 Crore. The high-performance sports coupe was launched today adding yet another thrilling model to the brand’s renowned M lineup. Expected to be available as a limited-edition offering, the M4 CS will be imported via the Completely Built Unit (CBU) route, ensuring its exclusivity in the Indian market.
The new M4 CS continues BMW’s aggressive design philosophy, featuring sharper lines, an enlarged kidney grille, and striking angular headlights with distinctive yellow inserts. The bold design language is carried to the rear with muscular contours and M-specific detailing, giving the coupe a powerful road presence.
Slotting between the M4 Competition and the more extreme CSL, the M4 CS offers a blend of everyday usability and track-focused performance. Inside, the cabin is a perfect mix of BMW’s minimalist design and motorsport-inspired elements. Carbon fibre racing seats with CS-specific badging, a squared-off steering wheel, and subtle M branding deliver a sporty ambiance, while maintaining the luxury and refinement typical of BMW.
Under the hood, the M4 CS houses a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged inline-six engine, producing 550 bhp. The car sprints from 0 to 100 kph in just 3.4 seconds, demonstrating its formidable performance. The engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, with power delivered via BMW’s M-specific xDrive all-wheel-drive system, providing optimal traction and control, whether on the racetrack or winding roads.
The chassis technology of the new BMW M4 CS has been precisely engineered to complement its performance characteristics, vehicle concept, and weight distribution. This includes specific adjustments to the axle kinematics, wheel camber settings, dampers, auxiliary springs, and anti-roll bars. These refinements are aimed at enhancing steering precision, improving control during cornering, and optimising the car’s spring and damping responses.
The M4 CS is equipped with an electronically controlled adaptive M suspension, which has been tailored specifically for this model. Additionally, the M Servotronic steering with variable ratio and the integrated braking system feature configurations designed for enhanced circuit driving performance. The Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system, including the M Dynamic Mode, allows drivers to push the car closer to its dynamic limits by delaying the intervention of the DSC. This setup enables more wheel slip under extreme driving conditions, improving power transmission and vehicle stability.
The braking system includes M Compound brakes with the option of callipers in Red or Black. For those opting for M Carbon ceramic brakes, the callipers can be finished in Red or matte Gold. These features combine to offer enhanced braking performance and a customisable aesthetic to match the vehicle’s overall design.
The interior of the BMW M4 CS is designed to balance a racing-inspired atmosphere with everyday comfort. The M Alcantara steering wheel with a flat-bottomed rim offers secure grip during dynamic driving, while the M Carbon bucket seats, upholstered in Merino leather with a Black/Red color scheme, provide a blend of race-car feel and long-distance comfort. Unique design elements such as the red “CS” lettering on the center console, carbon fiber trim, and illuminated M4 CS badges further enhance the car’s exclusive character.
Technology in the M4 CS is centered around BMW’s latest iDrive system, powered by Operating System 8.5. The BMW Curved Display, angled toward the driver, includes a 12.3-inch information display and a 14.9-inch control display with M-specific readouts, including widgets for vehicle setup and tire status. The system integrates voice control and touch functions for various settings, such as climate control and seat heating, while M-specific features like the Shift Lights and traction control modes ensure an enhanced driving experience.
The M4 CS also comes with advanced customisation options through the M-specific Setup button, allowing drivers to adjust engine, steering, braking, and xDrive settings. Standard features like the M Drive Professional system include track-focused tools like the M Drift Analyser and M Laptimer, providing performance data for track enthusiasts. Additionally, comfort and convenience features such as a Harman Kardon sound system, two-zone automatic climate control, and a range of driver assistance systems like Park Distance Control and Lane Departure Warning come standard, making the M4 CS suitable for both track and everyday driving.
While official pricing stands at Rs. 1.89 Crore (ex-showroom), the M4 CS enters a competitive segment, going up against rivals like the Audi RS5, Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, and the upcoming Maserati Gran Turismo. With its limited availability, the M4 CS is positioned as a premium, high-performance offering for enthusiasts and collectors.
The launch of the M4 CS further solidifies BMW’s commitment to offering cutting-edge performance vehicles in India. Combining thrilling driving dynamics, advanced technology, and a striking design, the M4 CS is set to make a bold statement in the country’s luxury sports car market.
