Say hello to BYD’s first electric SUV in India, the Atto 3. Bookings have already opened for a token amount of Rs 50,000. BYD says its launch will happen in a month, and by January next year, it plans on delivering 500 units.
The Atto 3 comes off as a unique-looking SUV. It adapts BYD’s ‘Dragon Face 3.0’ design philosophy. It doesn’t have too much chrome, thankfully. Up front, it gets LED headlamps and wraparound LED tail lights with a light bar. Plus, it sits on 18-inch alloy wheels. Inside, it features a digital instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch rotatable touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also gets a panoramic sunroof, automated climate control, powered front seats and a one-touch motorised tailgate, among others. It includes safety features like seven airbags, ABS, ESP, hill-hold assist, a 360-degree camera and ADAS.
Powering the Atto 3 is a 60.48-kWh battery pack which offers an impressive ARAI-certified range of 521 km. The electric motor mounted on the front axle helps the Atto 3 produce 201 bhp and 31.61 kgm of torque. That’s good enough for it to accelerate from 0-100 kph in 7.3 seconds and achieve a top speed of 160 kph. Now, the Blade Battery can be fast-charged from 0 to 80 per cent in 50 minutes using a fast charger. Moreover, big appliances can run on this battery. An output of up to 3.3 kW is available from the vehicle-to-load function.
BYD will provide an eight-year or 1.6 lakh km battery guarantee and an eight-year or 1.5 lakh km motor and motor assembly warranty. In addition, DC high-voltage components get a six-year or 1.5 lakh km warranty. We shall soon get a chance to test drive the BYD Atto 3, do stay tuned for our review.
