BYD India has announced the name of its upcoming electric multi-purpose vehicle, following a significant achievement of nearly 23 Lakh cars sold worldwide in 2024. Remarkably, the year isn’t even over yet!
The ‘BYD eMAX 7’, aimed at environmentally conscious families, will replace the existing BYD All-New e6 as the latest multi-purpose electric vehicle.
While the specifics of the Indian variant are not yet clear, here is what we know from their international offering:
The BYD eMAX 7 offers two battery pack options. A 55.4 kWh pack pairs with an electric motor delivering around 160.76 BHP. A larger 71.8 kWh pack couples with a 201.21 BHP motor. The vehicle claims a range of up to 530 km.
For the exterior, the BYD e6 provides the best template for what to expect. The BYD eMAX 7, internationally, feature a nearly identical design to the earlier brother, as shown in their teaser picture. However, the new car could include their latest grille design, along with LED head and tail lamp redesigns. The company also plans to make other minor design tweaks.
And the chrome! Which could add a welcome touch? The car could also feature multiple seating options, which was shown in Indonesia.
Inside, the eMAX 7 draws inspiration from its older sibling while offering BYD’s standard features. It includes a central 12.8-inch console, a dual-tone interior, and a panoramic glass roof. The car may also feature ventilated seats and more.
In a press release, BYD explained the meaning behind the name of this new MPV. They stated that the name ‘BYD eMAX 7’ reflects the latest advancements in BYD’s electric lineup. The ‘e’ highlights the vehicle’s electric powertrain, while ‘MAX’ represents its improved performance, range, and features compared to the BYD e6.
With this new MPV, BYD aims to support its ‘Cool The Earth’ mission, which seeks to reduce global temperatures by 1 degree Celsius.
Although the price is still unknown, the previous iteration cost Rs. 29.15 lakh (ex-showroom). For more updates on the BYD eMAX 7, stay tuned to Motoring World.
